Treatments Offered
Spinal Manipulative Therapy
Spinal Manipulative Therapy (SMT), sometimes referred to as an adjustment, involves placing gentle forces on certain joints of the body to induce movement and restore normal biomechanics. There is favorable evidence showing that manipulation of the spine can help many patients with low back and neck pain.
Soft-Tissue Mobilization Therapy
Soft-Tissue Mobilization Therapy, sometimes referred to as trigger point release therapy, is a technique geared towards breaking up fibrotic adhesions within muscles and fascia by hand or sometimes by an instrument. Trigger points (TrP) are areas of muscle tissue that have increased neural input and can cause referred pain to certain parts of the body.
Flexion-Distraction Therapy
Flexion-Distraction Therapy is a gentle and safe form of traction that is designed to stretch the muscles of the back and reduce pressure on the intervertebral discs and spinal column.
Instrument Assisted Soft-Tissue Therapy
Instrument-Assisted Soft-Tissue Mobilization Therapy (IASTM) involves using a tool to help break up fibrotic adhesions within muscle and fascia and decrease inflammation. This technique is a more aggressive approach that can accelerate tissue healing by stimulating cells to produce new, healthy tissue.
Dry Needling Therapy
Dry Needling Therapy involves the application of thin filament needles to stimulate the healing process of soft-tissues (myofascial trigger points, fascia, tendons, ligaments) to reduce pain and restore healthy tissues.
Myofascial Cupping Therapy
Myofascial cupping therapy is a soft-tissue technique that encourages healing by creating a negative pressure or suction on the skin using plastic or glass cups that pull up underlying tissues and blood close to the surface of the skin. This helps to improve muscle and fascia gliding and restore normal movement.
Kinesiology Taping
Kinesiology Taping is commonly applied either before or after treatment used to help support the muscles and fascia and increase proprioception allowing the body to heal. Kinesiology tape can stay on for up to 5 days and is safe to have on while showering.
Therapeutic Exercise
Therapeutic Exercise, sometimes referred to as rehab, involves the prescription of specific exercises that aim to help support the joints and muscles. These exercises play a crucial role to the body's healing process and allow the patient to regain function.
Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) Therapy
Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), or commonly referred to as E-Stim, utilizes low voltage electric currents to treat pain. This involves placing electrodes at the source of pain to deliver electrical impulses targeted toward pain relief.
